This workshop is designed to create open dialogue, increase mental health literacy, and provide participants with the tools to challenge stigma within their own communities.
Inspired by the card game We’re Not Really Strangers, the workshop aims to create a safe and reflective space for participants to explore their personal beliefs, experiences, and communication styles around mental health.
The workshop is structured in three parts: introduction, connection, and reflection. In Part 1 - introduction - participants will gain a basic understanding of mental health, why it matters, and how it impacts daily life. Through group connection activities, participants will begin the process of self-reflection.
Part 2 - connection - provides psychoeducation on mental health stigma in South Asian cultures. Participants will learn how stigma shows up in families and communities, and develop skills to navigate such conversations. They will engage in further connection activities to practice these conversations in a supportive environment.
Part 3 - reflection - guides participants to reflect on their learning, explore ways to build community, and identify next steps for continuing these conversations outside the workshop.
Participants will leave with a psychoeducational worksheet, practical communication tools, and increased confidence to initiate conversations about mental health in their communities.
