Join us for a fun and interactive workshop that reimagines everyday South Asian meals with simple, healthier tweaks.
For the first of a 3- workshop series hosted by Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical Students, we’ll explore the “South Asian MyPlate" - a guide that adapts familiar foods, such as rice, rotis, dals, and sabzis, into balanced, approachable meals that support long-term wellness.
The session will include a walkthrough of healthier ways to prepare familiar dishes, showing easy swaps like whole grains, colorful vegetables, and plant-based proteins. You’ll get to learn how to keep the flavors you love while adjusting portions, ingredients, and cooking techniques to fit a healthier lifestyle. Participants will leave with recipe cards, portion guides, and tips you can use right away at home.
All are welcome, whether you cook every day, want inspiration for healthier meals, or simply enjoy learning with your community. This workshop is designed to be supportive, culturally familiar, and enjoyable for all ages.
If there is a disability accommodation that would enable you to participate more fully in this program, please let us know with as much notice as possible by calling the information desk at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7286, and we will do our best to help you.
